We’ve already heard of several villains that are headed to Gotham for its second season – from Cameron Monaghan’s young Joker to Mr. Freeze – but this latest casting update provides Bruce Wayne not with a future enemy, but with a love interest of his very own.

According to EW, The Goldbergs actress Natalie Alyn Lind has jumped aboard the Batman prequel series as Silver St. Cloud, who will grow up to be a wealthy socialite in the infamous city. On the series, Silver will play “an ethereal beauty with the pristine manners of a Gotham debutante” who lost her parents at a young age, something she shares with the future Caped Crusader.

Silver may not be a villain herself, but she will be connected to one, as she’s the niece of Theo Galavan, who will be played by James Frain. Galavan is a billionaire philanthropist with a dark past and the brother of DC Comics villainess Tigress (Jessica Lucas).

Introducing Silver St. Cloud in Gotham‘s second season will be a refreshing change of pace for the series, which forcibly foreshadowed the eventual complicated love life of Bruce and Selina Kyle, the future Catwoman, last time around. Whether or not this relationship will be handled with more care remains to be seen, but I’m intrigued by this development nonetheless.

Gotham returns for its sophomore season on September 21st, 2015 on Fox.
