With just a little over a month to go before HBO's Game of Thrones returns to television for its fourth season, the marketing machine is in full swing. Up to this point, we've gotten two great full-length trailers, multiple production stills, and several behind the scenes images, but the network isn't quite done yet.

UPDATE: Posters for Melisandre and Daario Naharis have been released today and are now included in the gallery.

With just a little over a month to go before HBO’s Game of Thrones returns to television for its fourth season, the marketing machine is in full swing. Up to this point, we’ve gotten two great full-length trailers, multiple production stills, and several behind the scenes images, but the network isn’t quite done yet.

Today, HBO has revealed 18 new character posters, giving you glimpses of just about every major player in the show, including the (surviving) Starks, the Lannisters, Brienne, Littlefinger, and even a glimpse of Oberyn Martell (aka The Red Viper), a pivotal character for the upcoming season. There are a number of characters missing though, including Stannis, Melisandre, Davos, and Sam. Perhaps we’ll be seeing them soon?

Other material released today includes three brief teasers featuring Tyrion, Daenerys, Ser Jorah, and the Starks. They don’t show us very much (hence “teasers”), but we do get some small snippets of footage. I find it fascinating how they’re handling the teases of Tyrion’s storyline. I would think that they wouldn’t want to reveal anything, but they’ve already had prominent pictures of him in shackles, and now a shot of him in a cell insinuating that he won’t be around much longer. I can only imagine what’s going through the heads of those who haven’t read the book. Rest assured, his storyline is just one of the reasons this upcoming season is hotly anticipated.

How has Tyrion found himself in such a spot? Will Daenerys finally make her triumphant return to the Seven Kingdoms? Will the Starks be able to get their revenge? What of Jon Snow’s attempt to warn his Nightwatch brothers of the impending invasion? All of these questions and more will be answered in what is guaranteed to be the most thrilling season of Game of Thrones yet.

Season four, based on the latter half of George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords, premieres on April 6th at 9pm on HBO.

Check out the characters posters and teasers below and let us know what you think in the comments!
