CBS has released a new batch of images from next Monday’s episode of Supergirl, and they put the spotlight on the villainous Indigo.

While there’s no denying that the character has a striking resemblance to the X-Men franchise’s Mystique, that’s actually Laura Vandervoort under all that makeup. If you recall, the actress played Supergirl in Smallville and is the latest talent with ties to a former live-action adaptation of Superman to show up in this world.

For more details on what to expect from this episode of Supergirl (titled “Indigo”), here’s the official synopsis:

Kara travels to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude in hopes of learning how to defeat Indigo (Laura Vandervoort, pictured), a dangerous being who can transport via the Internet and who has a connection to Kara’s past, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Feb. 29 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Seeing Kara square off with a comic book villain is always enjoyable, and the fact that Indigo is tough enough to send the Girl of Steel to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude for help should make her a pretty formidable foe.

Of course, Supergirl is going to have to stop teasing us with the Man of Steel’s presence, because him not showing up in National City is beginning to get a little silly. It seems to be Warner Bros.’ big screen plans for the character which are causing that, but if we can have two versions of The Flash, why not have two Supermen?
