Legends Of Tomorrow Boss Teases Captain Cold’s Return

As is the case with any TV series, you have your standout characters that steal the show whenever they appear on screen. Perhaps you'll agree with me in this case, because, in my opinion, Captain Cold and Heat Wave have risen above the rest of the pack when it comes to Legends of Tomorrow. Played by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, respectively, these two thieves-turned-heroes went from being relatively unknown to the mainstream to being household names thanks to some fine performances.

Unfortunately, Miller’s Leonard Snart met his end in season 1’s finale, but with this being a time traveling show, he returned in season 2 – albeit in a different capacity. You see, the Legion of Doom plucked him from earlier in the timeline, right before he signed up with Rip Hunter and the others. Thus, we met a more ruthless version of him, much to the chagrin of the ever-evolving Mick Rory.

Now, we do know that Snart will somehow be involved in season 3, but the parameters of how he’ll return remain a mystery. When recently speaking with DC Legends TV though, executive producer Phil Klemmer had this to offer:

“It will be about as polar opposite as the Snart that he’s played on our show. We’ve got a cool pitch to justify that version of him, which I don’t want to give away. But it’s going to be really traumatic for Mick Rory, because he has deified this version of his dead partner in his head, and in a way, Snart’s return is his greatest wish come true, but the fact that he doesn’t get the version that he’s held in the back of his mind is deeply unsettling. Rory’s made a lot of progress as well in the meantime, but he’s certainly not ready to call himself a hero.”

Naturally, you’d think this new Snart will be even more of a bastard than ever before, but the “polar opposite” comment leads one to believe that we could be seeing a boy scout of sorts. Either way, it gives Wentworth Miller the opportunity to further flex his acting muscles, so count us as being intrigued.

Legends of Tomorrow returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
