New Promo For Supergirl Mid-Season Premiere: “Blood Bonds”

Although Supergirl will have endured the shortest winter hiatus of any DC TV series this season, a trailer for its mid-season premiere was conspicuously absent from its winter finale. Luckily for us, CBS has finally released a promo video for the returning episode, which is titled "Blood Bonds."

The footage, which can be viewed at the top, is brief yet touches on several major topics as the series moves forward: Kara finds out Hank Henshaw is really J’onn J’onnz/The Martian Manhunter; the Girl of Steel engages in an aerial battle with Non; Cat Grant continues to probe Kara regarding her dual identity as Supergirl; a gut-wrenching scene (pun intended) involving James Olsen and Maxwell Lord is teased; and we get a Toyman Easter Egg. It’s also worth pointing out that the last one is likely from an upcoming episode that will feature the Toyman himself as the guest villain.

Of all the various threads I just mentioned, it seems the rivalry between Kara and her dear aunt Astra will take center stage for this particular episode, as the show continues to take inspiration from the World of New Krypton comic book story arc. The official synopsis tells us that while Astra remains in DEO custody, Non captures Hank. Perhaps this incident is what leads to our favorite Martian revealing just how powerful he truly is.

Speaking of the official synopsis, you can view it below, complete with air date and time:

KARA MUST FIND A WAY TO RESCUE HANK FROM ASTRA’S HUSBAND AS SHE TRIES TO REFUTE CAT’S ALLEGATIONS THAT SHE’S SUPERGIRL, ON “SUPERGIRL,” MONDAY, JAN. 4 – With Astra in captivity at the DEO, her husband, Non (Chris Vance), captures Hank, leading to a tense standoff between the two sides. Also, Kara continues to refute Cat’s allegations that she is Supergirl, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Jan. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network.
