Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Teaser Confirms May Premiere

Tituss Burgess, who plays the wonderfully over-the-top Titus Andromedon, steals the show in the first trailer for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3.

As if to channel the spirit of Beyoncé following this weekend’s Grammy Awards, Netflix has rolled out the official first teaser for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3, in which we see aspiring actor Titus Andromedon strut his stuff, Lemonade-style.

Brought to life with infectious glee by Tituss Burgess, the actor’s on-screen persona has arguably gone on to become the breakout star of Kimmy Schmidt since the Netflix original debuted two years ago. And sure enough, much of today’s reveal trailer revolves around the character of Titus, walking proudly down a New York City sidewalk, baseball bat in hand. Lean in close and you’ll hear that a parody version of Beyoncé “Hold Up” is also playing in the background, which even features Burgess belting out a tune or two himself.

Other than that, there aren’t many plot details to be gleaned from the footage above. What we do know for sure is that Ellie Kemper is back, back, back as the irreverent Kimmy, who fights to make amends with her estranged mother (Friends‘ Lisa Kudrow). Jane Krakowski also returns as Kimmy’s close friend and former employer Jacqueline, who last season set sights on sabotaging the family behind the Washington Redskins.

Comprised of 13 episodes in total – such is the Netflix way – Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3 has been booked in for a premiere on May 19th. And though Netflix’s slate of original content is remarkably more crowded now than the moment each show first premiered, 2017 will welcome back three of the company’s heavy hitters: Kimmy Schmidt (May 19th), House of Cards (May 30th) and Orange is the New Black (June 9th). Better get comfortable, folks, for there’s a lot of binge-worthy material looming on the horizon.
