Director Steven Soderbergh is apparently in talks with Warner Bros to take the helm of the upcoming adaptation of the 60’s TV show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Also according to the Hollywood Reporter, the writer of The Informant, Scott Z Burns is in negotiations to draft out a screenplay.

The project has been in development hell for a long time now, Warner Bros. were originally planning for it in the 90’s, most recently with David Dobkin in line to direct where it would have been an action comedy. Now he has moved to the role of producer and simply overseeing the project for Soderbergh to take control. Whether or not it will remain a comedy it hasn’t been confirmed, but considering Soderbergh and Burns’ last project was a spy comedy, it seems likely that humour will be there.

With Soderbergh’s very busy schedule, which includes finishing post on his first fully fledged action film Haywire and secretive Australian comedy The Last Time I Saw Michael Gregg, as well as filming psychological thriller Contagion, it is likely that this won’t start shooting until the end of next year if that. So U.N.C.L.E fans will have to wait a little longer.
