The incident took place overnight in Boston, and Wright’s injuries were later confirmed by Marvel Studios.

“She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a spokesperson for Marvel told Deadline.

Wright is reprising her role as Shuri in the sequel to Black Panther. Other returning cast members include Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Florence Kasumba. Ryan Coogler is also returning as director. Dominique Thorne is set to appear in the film as Ironheart, setting up the character for the upcoming Ironheart Disney+ series.

The plot for the upcoming Black Panther sequel remains unclear, as Chadwick Boseman’s unfortunate death led to significant changes for the upcoming film. T’Challa’s younger sister Shuri is expected to take a more significant role in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the returning cast of characters will help maintain the magic of the first installment.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside such other notable titles as Black Widow, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Eternals. Hopefully, Shuri and the other cast of characters will maintain a significant role in the larger storyline.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to release on July 8, 2022.
