Snow White is undeniably the fairy tale princess of the moment with three versions of the tale in some form of production. Though she’s currently on everyone’s minds at the moment, Disney has chosen another princess to bring back to the big screen. The mouse house is reviving Sleeping Beauty in a re-visioning titled Maleficent.
Production Designer Robert Stromberg, known for his impeccable work on Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is set to make his directorial debut with the film.
The spin-off of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, will follow from the point-of-view of the evil witch herself. The title character Maleficent has already been cast(Angelina Jolie) and now the studio is moving on the role of Sleeping Beauty.
Rumors have been circulating that Elle Fanning is in talks to play the iconic character. After proving her talent on films like Super 8 and Somewhere, Fanning is in high demand in Hollywood.
The actress will have to bring it all if she hopes to compete with the force that will be Jolie, but judging from her previous work, that shouldn’t be a problem.
What do you think? Is Fanning ready to hold her own against Jolie?
