BioShock Infinite: Heavy Hitter Enemy Types Revealed

Columbia, the floating setting of BioShock Infinite, has already been showcased as a rather chaotic and somewhat strange place. Columbia, the floating setting of BioShock Infinite, has already been showcased as a rather chaotic and somewhat strange place. Now, those themes have been taken a step further, as Irrational Games has chosen to reveal two of the city’s most fearsome inhabitants: mechanical patriots and handymen. These two formidable foes seem to be taking over for the seafaring Big Daddies from the two previous BioShock titles. With their inclusion, the game’s creep factor has certainly gone up.

Mechanical patriots are aptly named, robotic interpretations of American leaders. Their movements are very disturbing, and their handled mini gun is just as foreboding. Taking on one of these baddies looks like a heck of a task.

Handymen, on the other hand, are not your everyday carpenter class or anything like that. These brutes are named based on their very large and intricate hands, which is an ode to the toys of yesteryear. Speed, strength and the ability to come out of nowhere, are all assets that this enemy possesses. Even near-by AI characters aren’t safe around them, essentially acting as projectile ammunition.

BioShock Infinite will be released onto the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC on October 16, 2012.
