Joss Whedon says Ray Fisher’s ‘Justice League’ role was cut because he’s a bad actor

Ray Fisher has been open in publicly blasting Joss Whedon for his alleged behavior during the extensive Justice League reshoots, and it served as the catalyst for a string of former collaborators to step forward with accusations of their own.

Based on the sheer volume of negative publicity and tales of misconduct that reportedly date back decades, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that Whedon’s mainstream career is as good as finished. Throughout it all, though, he hasn’t said a word about what purportedly went down on Justice League, until now.

In an interview with New York Magazine, the Firefly creator didn’t hold back when discussing Fisher, claiming that he’d cut Cyborg’s role in the theatrical edition of the DCEU blockbuster because it “logically made no sense”. On top of that, he was scathing when addressing the actor’s battle to have him and Warner Bros. take accountability.

Whedon offers that nothing Fisher said was “either true or merited discussing. We’re talking about a malevolent force. We’re talking about a bad actor in both senses”, which is sure to cause plenty of outrage. We’re closing in on the fifth anniversary of Justice League‘s reshoots ending, and yet the disastrous production is still proving capable of seizing headlines.
