If you’ve been itching for a chance to see Gearbox Software‘s final box art for Borderlands 2, then you’re in luck. The popular development studio just released three separate versions of the image, showing what it will look like on all three platforms. That is, for folks who purchase a physical copy of the game.

Fans will notice that this sequel’s box art is very similar to its predecessor’s. There’s yet another crazed wastelander pretending to shoot himself, creating a mess on the background, which shows the game’s characters. However, this time around, there are two of those aforementioned images, as well as two fake hand guns. Plus, orange is used as a primary colour instead of red.

All in all, this newly-revealed art looks quite good, and carries on from what we’re accustomed to. Still, I prefer the original Borderlands‘ packshot, due to its visceral use of red.

Anyone who missed yesterday’s reveal of the two Borderlands 2 Collector’s Edition sets will also want to check those out.

Borderlands 2, the sequel to one of the best games I’ve ever played, is scheduled for release on September 18, 2012.
