Variety is reporting that Hugh Laurie is wasting no time getting back on screen. Though he recently wrapped up his seven season long, hit television show, everyone’s favorite doctor is in talks to join the upcoming Robocop remake, helmed by director José Padilha. If he signs on, Laurie will play “the cold, sarcastic CEO of Omni Corp., the group behind RoboCop’s creation.”

With a cast that already includes Joel Kinnaman as the titular hero and Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Gary Oldman supporting him, Laurie would be just another addition to an already stellar lineup.

To be honest, I couldn’t think of a better casting choice. The role is being described with adjectives like “cold” and “sarcastic” and if you’ve seen House, then you’ll know why Laurie is the perfect person for the part. Plus, this is a “villainous” role, which means that Laurie can take that cold and sarcastic demeanour and really run with it.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Laurie on the big screen in this role?
