Avatar: The Way of Water arguably lived up to the legacy of the revolutionary first installment. The original James Cameron film was the most significant contributor to the polarization of 3D movies in the cinema, and its immense success — other than the quirky plot — is due to its unique storytelling viewing options. After a strong run in theaters, putting the sequel into the two-billion-dollar club, just like the original, it is clear fans will be clamoring to stream Avatar: The Way of Water as soon as possible.
In a unique sequel, set more than a decade after its first story, Avatar: The Way of Water explores the life of the Sully family and every encounter and conflict that they face. This family struggles to keep each other safe and alive amid all the chaos, in spite of tragedy and sadness being an imminent reality awaiting them.
The streaming platforms open a whole plethora of possibilities for cinephiles who prefer the comfort of their own homes, as opposed to the cinema’s auditorium. Considering the first installment has long been a title available on Disney Plus, when will its second-in-command join the first box-office success on the platform?
When will Avatar 2 be available to stream?
Following its theatrical run, Avatar: The Way of Water was made available to stream on Disney Plus on June 7. In addition to its full-length feature, the streaming giant also included a totem for fans: bonus content featuring the cast and the crew. Moreover, its rival streaming service Max also has Avatar: The Way of Water available to stream on its platform on the same day, as a result of a streaming deal between 20th Century Fox and Max.
Avatar: The Way of Water was shown in theaters for almost three months, grossing $2.32 billion at the box office, earning itself the title of the third highest-grossing movie of all time. Due to its longevity in the theaters, only rivaled by its precedent installment, the film sure did take its sweet time arriving on Disney Plus and Max — even though ambiguous reviews have already followed its theatrical release.
