‘The Last of Us’ viewership could suddenly be in jeopardy for the next three episodes

Is the show about to face its first serious threat?

After just three episodes, HBO’s ever-growing drama series The Last Of Us, based on Naughty Dog’s highly popular video game, has easily become one of the most-watched programs on the television network. And while viewership for the series continues to tick up — with each episode drawing more viewers every week — the critically acclaimed show has suddenly found itself caught in a tangled web that threatens viewership for the next three episodes.

Over on Twitter, user @RhodeToLove made mentioned the fact that HBO is giving the green light to air the next three episodes of The Last of Us as scheduled. The only problem is that the next three episodes will be airing simultaneously alongside the 2023 Grammys, Super Bowl LVII, and the 2023 Oscars. And, if history is of any indication, all three of those programs usually reach millions of viewers. You can check out the post for yourself down below:

With that being said, the greatest concern here is that wide-eyed viewers will be tuning in to watch these other events rather than watching the Pedro Pascal vehicle for the next three Sunday nights. And considering how jaw-dropping the show’s third episode turned out to be, we can only expect further chaos in the next upcoming episodes.

And yet, viewership also has the chance to not be affected at all — because if this collection of tweets is of any indication, then TLoU fans will be prioritizing the post-apocalyptic series above anything else.

That’s the spirit!

Well, what else would you expect?

It remains to be seen just how well The Last of Us does in viewership after these next three weeks are done and over with. But for now, devoted fans are ready to strap in for an intense ride that’s only going to get more chaotic from this point on. To stay in the loop, The Last of Us airs weekly on Sunday nights on HBO.
