Marvel fans find themselves mourning Chadwick Boseman all over again as ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ arrives on Disney Plus

The film’s opening scenes have us awash in grief.

Right now, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is streaming on Disney Plus. The production has a strong story, and apart from moving its corner of the Marvel world forward, is also an epitaph for the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. Several people have just been reminded of this and, in combination with new watchers, a fresh outpouring of grief is circulating throughout Twitter right now.

Sentiment like the above is common as of this story’s filing, and several other users say the film is a great tribute to Boseman. In contrast to other stories focused on death and the aftermath, one also adds it is beautiful in contrast to grim nature seen elsewhere.

Much of the conversation is centered around the opening minutes of the film, and one commenter touches on the trend of people being sad when celebrities die. For this user, the mourning-celebrities phenomenon was puzzling in the case of Michael Jackson and Paul Walker, but Boseman hit differently, and is present in their mind today even though he has been gone from the world for years.

Arguably, the film would not work as well as it does without its music, and Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” is a standout. A comedian touched on this by predicting their reaction if the entertainer performs the song at the upcoming Super Bowl; something even the most jaded will not be able to withstand.

The first film in the sub-franchise is now streaming on Disney Plus. If you want to get even more of Chadwick Boseman’s iconic, gone- too-soon T’Challa, you can also find a version of the character in several episodes of the first season of What If…?, also streaming.
