‘Stranger Things’ fans rejoice as Kate Bush lands nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

This is the fourth time Kate Bush was nominated for the Hall of Fame.

The Kate Bush effect isn’t over just yet after it was announced that the artist was nominated to the Rock & Roll hall of fame, alongside other rock legends. This is the fourth time that Bush was nominated for the Hall of Fame and it could be thanks to the newfound popularity of ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal from God).’

The nominees for this year’s class were announced recently via the Hall of fame’s social media page and official website. President and CEO Greg Harris said in the video that “The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates the sound of youth culture” and wants to honor artists whose music “connects us all.”

Bush joins 14 other music legends, such as Missy Elliot, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, and Rage Against the Machine, just to name a few. And knowing the reach Bush’s song made back in 2022, it’s no surprise why she would be an automatic contender to the Hall of Fame.

Stranger Things fans are now torn after it was announced that the artist will be selected through fan votes. Fans wondered if they could vote twice due to multiple notable names on the nominations list. Fortunately, voters can select up to five nominees daily. At the same time, they believe that this year is the perfect year to have Bush inducted into the Hall of Fame since she was nominated back in 2018, 2021, and 2022.

However, critics argue that Bush is only going to make it into the Hall of Fame this year because of the Netflix show, not because of her talent. They also believed that Bush should have been inducted years ago and shouldn’t just be recognized because of one popular song.

‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal of God)’ became a massive success after the song was played on season four of Stranger Things. Originally released in 1985, the song accumulated over 800 million streams on Spotify and became a viral hit. The artist commented about her newfound popularity, thanking everyone who supported the song and appreciating the younger fans who gave her music new life.

The Rock & Roll The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 fan vote ends on April 28 and can be done through the official website.
