She took to Donald Trump’s social media platform to publish a divisive post that harkened back to some of the darkest days in U.S. history. Taylor Greene suggested splitting up the United States according to binary political ideologies in what she described as “a national divorce.”

Not only is her proposal divisive and impractical, but it is also chillingly reminiscent of the dogma that catalyzed the Confederacy’s attempt to secede from the Union. All that’s missing from her tone-deaf post is a picture of a plantation and cotton fields.

Taylor Greene seems to be playing a game of political limbo, demonstrating how low she can go in her quest for notoriety and power. Her post expresses unapologetic contempt for the First Amendment, which ironically protects her right to speak her mind and unleash her divisive politics. Yet, while she enjoys the right to freedom of speech, she would deny other Americans the same rights simply because they don’t hold her worldview.

She posted the same message on Twitter and was immediately called out by other users. The first response to her tweet accused her of treason.

Conservative pundit Lauren Boebart came to Taylor Greene’s defense.

It is manipulative to encourage division and conflict among citizens of a region or ideology. It is one of the oldest political tricks in the book: divide and conquer. Many see through Taylor Greene’s tactics. How far-gone must a person be to get permanently banned from Elon Musk’s Twitter?

Great leaders are known for bringing people with differing opinions and beliefs together, as opposed to self-serving politicians, who use conflict to advance their agenda without a second thought to the harm they do to others.
