A cosmic MCU sequel destined to be more popular than ‘Love and Thunder’ draws the attention of Chris Hemsworth

Is there a hint of FOMO to the longtime Odinson's gaze?

It goes without saying that Thor: Love and Thunder has already gone down in the history books as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most disappointing installments, so singling one solitary aspect out for criticism above all other is a moot point.

However, fans were left crushingly disappointed after all of the teasers, trailers, and marketing spots heavily played up the involvement of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, only for Star-Lord and the gang to vanish after the opening action sequence, never to be seen or heard from again.

Those expecting a full-blown team-up were left crushed, and it felt as though director Taika Waititi was merely fulfilling the canonical obligations that came with Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson buddying up with the intergalactic outlaws in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, only to dispose of them as quickly as he could in order to focus on his own half-baked narrative.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is edging ever closer to release in May, and in taking a moment to shout out the most recent trailer, Hemsworth lamented that the Asgardians of the Galaxy have been separated, and you get the feeling there might be a hint of FOMO in his wistful lament.

Will we see the cosmic all-stars reunited at some point in the future? It’s likely with both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars on the horizon, but any hopes of a full-blown Asgardians of the Galaxy movie are dead in the water with both Gunn and the current lineup bowing out of the MCU in a matter of weeks.
