MCU fans have mixed emotions on the ongoing lack of ‘Secret Invasion’ developments

Marvel is really putting the "secret" in 'Secret Invasion.'

We all know how the pitiful song and dance of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania went by now, and given that the film is the only reference point for the MCU‘s Phase Five at the moment, the anxiety for the future is through the roof, which means hasty – if entirely theoretical – problem-solving.

On one hand, some fans may be eager to get another Phase Five project in order to replenish their hopes for the future as soon as possible. On the other, patience may be a virtue in this situation, and wanting to wait for Marvel Studios to fine-tune its next effort before delivering is an entirely sensible reaction, too.

With respect to the many different emotions that fans may feel on the topic, the ongoing coyness surrounding Secret Invasion, the upcoming Disney Plus series starring Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, is causing r/marvelstudios to anchor their expectations as the days go by without an update.

One user, the designated torch-bearer of hope, pointed out Marvel’s recent intention to prioritize quality over quantity going forward, and chalked up the silence surrounding Secret Invasion as the studio working hard to deliver something worthwhile.

Others compared the Secret Invasion pre-release path to Star Wars heavy-hitter Andor, noting how the latter didn’t have much buzz surrounding it prior to release, only to explode onto the scene once it hit Disney Plus. And with the unique vibes that Secret Invasion has given us so far, we won’t be surprised if the Andor comparisons don’t end here.

Some responders, meanwhile, took the question as seriously as possible.

If the current rumors pointing to a May release date are to be believed, then fans will be in for a wealth of content two months from now, as Secret Invasion would end up coming slightly before or after the theatrical release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In saying that, it doesn’t sound like Marvel to pile projects on top of one another like that, and with Secret Invasion being earmarked for early 2023, we might be getting Marvel’s answer to Andor earlier than we think.

At the end of the day, it’s on the way, and we’ll be able to wash the sour taste of Quantumania out of our mouths before we know it.
