Rachel Zegler teases Anthea as ‘the best of both worlds’ in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’

Rachel Zegler is excited for fans to see her character.

The red carpet premiere for Shazam! Fury of the Gods was recently held, with the stars of the film in attendance to welcome the second chapter in the film franchise. The title hero and his family now face a new threat in the form of the daughters of Atlas, but one may not be as big a threat as the others. Anthea, played by Rachel Zegler, doesn’t look to be quite as malevolent as her sisters, and it could be due to having one foot in our world.

Anthea seems a little more reluctant than her two older siblings, and we are not sure whose side she is on exactly. What we do know is that she embodies “the best of both worlds” according to Zegler, with the actress sharing “you get the high school drama but also the real world drama, which has to do with her god realm and her sisters.”

The West Side Story alum also seems excited for a DC led by James Gunn and Peter Safran who “weren’t at the helm” when filming began, but took over after filming had finished. The new leadership at DC has come with a lot of changes, with many of the characters previously front and center now taking a step back, or not even returning at all.

Zegler seems hopeful that under their leadership, the Shazam! franchise will continue to grow, “we are very confident for the future of the franchise,” she said, adding “hopefully people come out to see it and then we can do a third one.”

Currently, it is uncertain what will happen to Shazam! and the gang going forward. Gunn and Safran have already dropped Henry Cavill’s Superman and a third Wonder Woman film among others. It may come down to what audiences say at the box office, but Shazam! simply may not fit into the future of DC.

You can see Zegler in Shazam! Fury of the Gods from March 17 in theaters.
