There’s a recurring problem plaguing the United States that’s repeatedly been all over the headlines for all the wrong reasons, with politicians being left but with no other choice but to step in and tighten the legislation before things get any worse, and we’re obviously talking about… TikTok.
In news that’s left Stephen King understandably incredulous, lawmakers in Montana have moved to ban the social media sensation across the entire state on all devices, with a bill having already been sent to the government. If approved, the ruling will make it against the law for anyone in the state to even download the app, which would be a pretty ridiculous way of being sent to prison.
Needless to say given his outspoken stance on gun control despite being a firearm owner himself, King was left stunned that the people in charge have opted to take a stand against TikTok of all things, when the ongoing gun problem continues piling tragedy on top of tragedy.
As per the legislation, the bill states that within the confines of Montana, Governor Greg Gianforte will prohibit TikTok from operating within state lines, and ban any app stores from offering it as an available download. The company has already hinted that it’ll file legal action of its own in opposition, seeing as it was named specifically as the target, meaning it could be fined $10,000 per violation per day with individual users not being held liable for using the service, which seems inherently flawed.
Never mind tighter gun control, anyone remains free to use TikTok as much as they please even if the bill gets passed into law, because it’s the company that takes the financial hit with no repercussions for the rule-breakers.
