Netflix facing even more legal woes after an upcoming series leads to calls for a nationwide ban

Netflix just can't seem to stop being hit with legal complaints.

Being the market-leading streaming service does have its perks, but it would seem that one of them isn’t being immune from legal action, with Netflix once again facing some courtroom drama, with Queen Cleopatra the subject this time around.

On the plus side, it isn’t quite as bad as being sued twice in the space of a few weeks for insinuating that people are murderers, with feature film No Limit and documentary The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker both leading to a rapid-fire defamation lawsuits that could lead to multi-million dollar payouts.

Instead, the entire country of Egypt is up in arms over Queen Cleopatra, which makes the claim that the legendary ruler was Black, and not of European descent as many scholars claim. It’s already caused a tizzy on social media for reasons we shouldn’t have to explain, but a local lawyer has gone one step further by threatening to head to the courtroom.

As per Variety, an Egyptian lawyer is reported to have filed a complaint demanding that not only is Queen Cleopatra pulled from the nation’s release schedule, but they also demand that Netflix is outright blocked throughout the entirety of the country to prevent people from seeing the show, which they offer as a violation of its media laws.

We’re going to go out on a limb and say that Netflix won’t end up being yanked from a densely-populated area like Egypt based on a solitary slice of content, but then again, it’s probably worth keeping an ear to the ground to see if Queen Cleopatra ends up causing any more controversy before it hits the airwaves.
