You’ll never guess which Bachelorette Clayton Echard said should bring her little black dress to Arizona

The Instagram exchange has Bachelor Nation on its toes!

Fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette know that in addition to the show’s biggest romances, the scorned lovers and the drama are truly what keeps viewers coming back for more. While the series is certainly about finding love — that forever person to spend your days and nights with, some contestants have been guilty of using it as more of an opportunity.

Clayton Echard was the lead in season 26 of The Bachelor, and as is promised each time out, his did contain some of the most dramatic moments in franchise history. One occurred when Echard explained to Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia why Susie Evans was no longer with them in the rose ceremony for the final three women. He explained to Windey and Recchia that he was in love with all three, and that he’d been intimate with both of them — and those were the reasons Evans had decided to remove herself from the situation.

Needless to say, feelings were crushed, and emotions were high as Echard continued talking and not entirely reading the room. While Echard didn’t end up with Windey, Recchia, or Evans — a significant relationship was born of the season, and it was the friendship between Windey and Recchia. Their bond has continued to blossom in the months after the series aired, and Recchia was one of the first to comment on Windey’s most recent snap, but she wasn’t the only one.

Windey’s latest Instagram post was certainly an attention-grabber, as she stunned in a little black dress she intended to wear when Echard proposed to her. As fans know, their love story didn’t turn out that way, but she still wanted to get use out of that dress — and rightfully so. She looks phenomenal in it.

While it might not have been the gown she wore when he dropped to one knee in front of her, it did get Echard’s attention, and he picked up on exactly what she was putting down in her caption. In fact, he invited Windey and her little black dress to Scottsdale this weekend.

The reactions to Echard’s response were mixed, with some raising eyebrows at the idea that Windey might respond and others saying he’s totally missed his chance. While it’s yet to be determined if Windey will say something to Echard publicly or if some DMs were sent, we’re here for this exchange. Windey deserves to be happy, and she’s continued her pursuit of romance since her public split with Echard, but there’s nothing wrong with some shady-yet-flirty banter.
