‘Ted Lasso’ is prompting parents to ask their kids a very uncomfortable question

Who ever thought this day would come?

It’s typical and often encouraged for TV shows and movies to spark conversations among audience members. That said, not all conversations are exactly easy to have, and Ted Lasso fans are now reaching a new level of uncomfortable because of it.

In season 3, episode 7 —”The Strings That Bind Us” — pegging is discussed between Coach Beard and Ted, as the former reveals that Jane has been leaving hints about the practice around the house. In truth, the show has never shied away from nudity or making jokes about sexual content, but pegging is certainly a new one, and it’s turning the heads of older viewers who are not familiar with the concept. And what’s the first thing a parent does when they don’t know something? Ask their children for insight, naturally.

Despite Ted Lasso being targeted at an adult audience, that doesn’t make it any easier for some viewers to approach this subject with their family members. As one can imagine, this is generating a wave of joking complaints online, as folks grapple with the mortifying ordeal of having to explain what pegging is to their parents.

Luckily, a few viewers managed to escape the awkward conversation, having their prayers answered when their parents simply did not ask. Unfortunately, as one viewer is pointing out, the lack of questions might result in an even more uncomfortable experience — i.e. their unsuspecting parents taking their questions to Google.

All jokes aside, despite how awkward these conversations might be, it’s never a bad thing for older folks to get with the times. Knowledge is power, after all.

Ted Lasso is available for streaming on Apple TV Plus.
