Insider culture can often be a blight against an already nauseating sphere of rumor-mongering that dogs every high-profile superhero project that’s in the works, but scoopers have more than met their match in James Gunn.
When he’s not busy forging ahead with the next decade of DC Studios content, the co-CEO can generally be found on Twitter responding to inquiries or roundly debunking speculation. There isn’t anyone on the planet – other than perhaps cohort Peter Safran and Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav – who know as much as Gunn does, but that clearly isn’t enough for some.
Having taken serious offense to Margot Robbie’s name being brought up in relation to both the DCU and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the filmmaker took the so-called “insider” straight to task, leaving them shell-shocked. However, whether it’s tongue in cheek or not, an account with a whopping 172 followers nonetheless decided to question how the person tasked with overseeing the entire franchise knows they’re not telling the truth.
We’ve got a decent idea of how Gunn found out about Margot Robbie not being ditched as Harley Quinn after surreptitiously signing a contract to play a major part in the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot, and it’s not just because he directed her in The Suicide Squad and outlined that he’d love nothing more to collaborate with her again.
Sadly, this won’t be the last time the writer and director of Superman: Legacy has his credentials called into question, which is every bit as insane as it sounds.
