Latest Marvel News: Tom Holland’s Spider-Man future gets even foggier as Sony announcing a dream Spider-Verse project only incites fear

Meanwhile, an MCU star has some surprisingly strong words for... themselves?

For once the MCU is taking a backseat in Marvel land as Sony steals the show thanks to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse finally swinging its way into theaters. The animated sequel is receiving universal praise, which is wonderful and well-deserved, but teases for what the studio has got planned for the future suggest things might revert to type before too long. Meanwhile, those waiting on a straight answer for when Miles Morales’ live-action counterpart Peter Parker will return will have to wait a little longer…

A long-awaited Spider-Man 4 update leaves us none the wiser about Tom Holland’s Marvel comeback

The arrival of Across the Spider-Verse has brought us the update on Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 that we’ve all been waiting for, but honestly we’re not really sure what we’ve learned. The good news is that, yes, a third Homecoming sequel is being cooked up. The bad news, however, is that — surprise, surprise — the writers’ strike has forced development to stall right now. Presumably, given that this project is being talked about as Spider-Man 4, it will definitely bring back Holland, who turned 27 years old as of June 1 (and who predicted his own Marvel career a full decade ago, don’t forget).

Even the promise of a live-action Miles Morales movie can’t banish the bad blood from Morbius

Apart from more Tom Holland, what’s the other thing Spidey fans have desperately been waiting for some word on? Miles Morales to appear in live-action, that’s what. So it’s surprising that now that Sony is confirming such a project is in the works, they’re not jumping for joy. Instead the announcement is leaving the internet fearing the worst as they’re already jumping to the inevitable — and horrifying — crossovers ahead of us. Miles Morales coming to live-action? Yay! Miles Morales coming to live-action… so he can team up with Morbius? Please, Sony, no. Oh god, now that idea’s out there.

Across the Spider-Verse star has some surprisingly strong words for her own multiversal variant

Across the Across the Spider-Verse press tour, Hailee Steinfeld has invariably had to field various questions contrasting and comparing her two Marvel characters – the MCU’s own Kate Bishop and Gwen “Spider-Gwen” Stacy. Mostly concerning which one would win in a fight. Although Steinfeld believes that Kate might actually beat Gwen (which is the wrong answer, but she’s entitled to her opinion), it appears she’s of the belief that the Spider-hero has a stronger personality, at least going by her surprisingly strong-worded prediction of what Gwen would say to Kate if they ever did meet.

While a certain MCU star cannot confirm when their exile from the franchise will be over, there’s certainly more from the wider Marvel news world arriving all the time.
