‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s’ cruel ending has fans spitting venom

The directors of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse have gifted fans with arguably the most dynamic and spectacular animated superhero film of all time. The film debuted in theatres on June 2, 2023, and is expected to gross $80 million over its first weekend in the United States and Canada. The data show that there is far more interest in the sequel than there was in the Oscar-winning first film, which collected $35 million during its first weekend in 2018. Across the Spider-Verse is a masterpiece by all means, be it the thought-provoking script, universal themes, multiplicity of characters, or enthralling soundtrack.

Even though most fans left the halls satisfied with the best cinematic experience of their lives, viewers have taken to social media to explicitly express their frustration about the film’s ending. The 140 minutes of absolute thrill and excitement ends on a cliffhanger. The breathtaking, but abrupt ending has left fans in agonizing anticipation of what will happen next. The magic that we witnessed is apparently only the first part of the planned adventure, which will be concluded with the forthcoming sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
