It is going to be Joe’s bloody fairytale vs every single ‘loose end’ of his past in ‘You’ season 5

Season 5 is set to bring Joe's quest for love to an end. Will these stars be a part of the story?

Netflix’s You got to share the spotlight at its TUDUM 2023 celebrations. With series star Penn Badgley appearing at the festival via video, he hinted at the potential return of a few surprising characters in season 5.

This year, TUDUM 2023 was hosted in São Paulo, Brazil, where several Netflix stars have congregated to give updates on the their respective series. Badgley could not appear in person, but sent in a video thanking fans for supporting the series, which is set to end with season 5.

And with an ending now on the horizon, You might just be bringing back some storylines that need to be wrapped up. Badgley teased that Joe has some ‘loose ends’ to worry about. As he spoke, characters who Joe has harmed — but not killed — flashed on screen, including Dr. Nicky (John Stamos) from Season 1, Paco (Luca Padovan) also from Season 1, Ellie (Jenna Ortega) from Season 2, and the Conrads (Shalita Grant and Travis Van Winkle) from Season 3.

Notably, Ortega was supposed to return to the program in season 4, but scheduling conflicts with Wednesday prevented her from doing so. Now, Ortega’s pretty booked at the moment, but that could imply that You is most interested in bringing her back into the fold.

TUDUM also revealed that You‘s current showrunner, executive producer Sera Gamble, who co-created the series alongside Greg Berlanti, will be departing the series to focus on other projects. In her place, longtime You writers Michael Foley, who’s been with the series since Season 1, and Justin W. Lo, who joined in Season 2, will be taking over.
