Don’t worry, everyone, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief because everyone’s favorite archer and snowblower accident survivor, Jeremy Renner, is alive and well.
A Twitter user posted a doctored headline from The Guardian saying that Renner had died in a “freak escalator accident.” That gruesome mental image, along with the fact that Renner is one of our most beloved celebrities, set the online world on fire.
The hashtag #RIPJeremyRenner started trending rapidly, with some people just piling in on the hoax. Here’s the original tweet:
Others followed suit in either wishing him condolences or playing off the fact he was in heaven now.
Here he is with a bevy of other deceased celebrities.
Some of these are admittedly a little ridiculous, like this purported “final photo” with Renner. How are people falling for this? Look at the date!
This one is honestly kind of impressive. “His intestine shot out of his mouth….” What a world we live in.
Honestly, this all feels a bit lighthearted and necessary after the terrible tragedy we all went through with the Titan submersible. Lighthearted, that is, unless you don’t know it’s fake.
For those still not convinced, you can rest easy knowing that Renner posted from his Instagram account just a few hours ago from Tahoe.
This is of course not the first time we’ve had to deal with a Jeremy Renner death hoax. Back in 2017, he was forced to post following persistent rumors that he had passed away.
Those rumors also happened after Renner was involved in a snow-plowing accident while trying to help a neighbor. The only thing that is news is the fact that you can’t keep him down! If anything, this hoax is a reminder that Renner is a treasure and should live a long and healthy rest of his life.
