Step aside, #Gentleminions — The #PrettiestPrincess trend is here just in time for ‘Barbie’

Time to show up and show out!

History certainly has a funny way of repeating itself — which just so happens to be the case when it comes to the modern-day fascination surrounding Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. With the upcoming fantasy film set to release in theaters next month, passionate moviegoers are already extremely vocal about their support over on TikTok — reminiscent of a similar trend that occurred during the theatrical run for Minions: The Rise of Gru last summer.

Over on the always interactive app, TikToker @flazefir3 explained how moviegoers showed up last year for “the boys” during showings of Minions 2. On that same note, @flazefir3 expressed that now everybody needs to show up for “the girls” to support the Barbie movie. Following these remarks, @flazefir3 revealed a screenshot of a pink dress, sparkling tiara, pink gloves, and other Barbie-inspired accessories.

And without skipping a beat, @flazefir3’s next TikTok showcased the OP dressed in Barbie-esque swimwear and embracing the ensemble. You can check out the post for yourself down below:

Of course, this current trend is extremely similar to the #Gentleminions trend last year, where an 18-year-old TikToker shared a video of him and his friends attending Minions: The Rise of Gru while wearing suits. The video eventually went viral, leading to moviegoers around the world showing up to various showings dressed in suits — although some instances in particular situations led to some cinemas canceling screenings in protest.

But seeing how popular the TikTok video became last year, it definitely does feel necessary and lighthearted for the same to happen for the Barbie movie — which is already skyrocketing in interest despite going head-to-head with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer next month.

So grab your #PrettiestPrincess outfit and head to theaters when Barbie arrives on July 21.
