Anyone familiar with TikTok knows about the absolute slew of glamorous, weird, or downright freaky filters available, but the latest trend leans on the absolutely adorable. What’s more appealing than a squishy-faced, roly-poly lil’ bub? Why, one that’s all your own and looks like a little angel.
The latest TikTok trend allows users to catch a glimpse of what their future mini-me might look like and many parents are sharing their spot-on recreations. But that’s not all, the site is also pushing a #minime filter that has plenty of young users wondering exactly what this baby trend is all about.
The #babygenerator requires Capcut — a software created by the same minds behind TikTok — and an image of both parents to work. Once everything has been loaded, AI processes the images to make some cute — and some not-so-cute — little creations. The process is fun for those who might be thinking about starting a family, but parents have started sharing their AI babies next to their real-life little ones and the results are surprisingly accurate.
The app is able to predict what some little ones would look like, even down to the little wisps of hair.
Even wearing clothing on or near heads, strange angles, and bad framing weren’t enough to stop these cuties from appearing.
Plenty of parents were quick to share their shock at just how discerning the app was.
It wasn’t all fun and games. Several users had to seriously rethink their relationships.
Others used the experiment as justification for never procreating.
Beyond the incredibly accurate (or offensive) baby mashups, TikTok also rolled out the #minime trend. Users take a picture of themselves, and AI recreates a tiny version of them. The results are downright uncanny. The #Minime #CapCut videos rely on the Remini App to work, but never fear, the paywall blocking users from accessing the baby feature is easily circumvented by simply closing the window.
The app makes some pretty gosh-darn cute babies — just don’t look too closely at those fingers.
It wasn’t just women feeling that baby burn, plenty of male users are feeling the call to make their parents grandparents.
Plenty of female users have flocked to the trend, intent on seeing what the future might hold, and many are feeling the baby fever creeping up. Just remember not to show anything that might give away a location, the comments of these videos are littered with creeps “volunteering” to help in the process.
With so many adorable little bubbies littering the site, it’s not hard to see why younger users might feel as though this is a coordinated attack against their childless existence.
