‘STOP TALKING TRASH AMERICA !!!’: Britney Spears announces she adopted new ‘beautiful baby girl’ with permanent move to Italy

...and set of a fresh wave of concern for her.

Britney Spears’ Instagram continues to be chaotic. This time, the Toxic singer has claimed she has adopted a daughter named Lennon and is moving to Italy. Reports, however, suggest otherwise.

Spears’ fall from grace was gradual, then sudden. It started in 2007, when she was having marital issues with Kevin Federline and dealing with paparazzi who didn’t respect boundaries. She was once photographed driving with her young son on her lap instead of securing him in a car seat, and while she took accountability for the action, that moment seemingly became the beginning of the end.

Soon, Spears was grieving the loss of a close family member, cycling in and out of rehab centers, and shaving her entire head of hair. That era began a ten-year stint under a conservatorship for the Grammy winner, and just like with Wendy Williams now, people started pushing for it to end so the pop star could have more agency over her personal and business affairs. Eventually, those efforts were successful, and now she’s free to do as she pleases with her life and considerable wealth.

That’s obviously where it all should have ended. Since Britney Spears regained control of her public image, she’s been posting confusing updates on Instagram. She’s already called out people who were feigning concern, so that’s been covered. And Instagram is probably just an app for fun, for sharing jokes and memories with friends — or fans, in her case. But Britney’s page has become for something else entirely… like dancing with knives.

She’s been fine despite being odd, but it would be dishonest to say this behavior hasn’t raised concerns about her mental stability. The latest “stunt” seemed to confirm those concerns. The Womanizer singer posted another dancing video, with the comments wisely turned off. Dressed in a pink bodysuit and boots, Spears claimed in the caption to have adopted a daughter named Lennon London Spears. In her almost indecipherable caption, she talked about her baby’s dress and added that her dress has the caption “I’m NEW HERE !!! SO PLEASE STOP TALKING TRASH AMERICA.” She then claimed she has decided to move to Italy.

Reports from people familiar with the matter refuted these claims and assured the public that none of what Spears wrote in the caption is rooted in reality. Maybe she just has a sense of humor that doesn’t translate to most people, but coupled with recent reports of her smoking during a flight, this behavior has set off alarm bells for fans of the sometimes embattled pop star, and concerns over her mental stability are at an all-time high.

But if she’s okay and this is simply what amuses her — if these are just her ideas of a joke — then so be it. As long as nobody in her close circle is getting hurt and she doesn’t lose her personal agency, what’s the worst that can come from a few awkward posts? Maybe we just don’t know these stars as much as we might want to think we do.
