‘Are you really asking me this question?’: Gwyneth Paltrow thought Brad Pitt was a complete idiot for marrying Jennifer Aniston

Not many glowing reviews for her ex-fiance.

Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly felt deep “sadness” and dislike when her ex-fiancé, Brad Pitt, married Jennifer Aniston in 2000. While she avoided talking about the wedding in public, a new biography by Amy Odell, Gwyneth: The Biography, shares Paltrow’s private and harsh comments about Pitt’s choice.

During a September 2000 interview at the Toronto Film Festival, when asked about Pitt’s recent marriage to Aniston, Paltrow’s eyes supposedly turned sharp, and she replied, “Are you really asking me this question? I can’t comment on this kind of thing.” However, Odell’s book, which uses sources who knew Paltrow’s private thoughts, tells a different story.

According to Page Six, Paltrow reportedly told friends she felt “sad” about the marriage and liked to say that Brad “has terrible taste in women.” The insults went further. Later that year, during a business meeting with Estee Lauder cosmetics heiress Aerin Lauder, Paltrow allegedly said that Pitt was “dumber than a sack of s–t.” Odell writes that Paltrow, who grew up in a wealthy Manhattan family, saw Pitt as less refined than her, pointing to his “very religious” childhood in Missouri as a big difference.

The biography has all the details

Paltrow and Pitt dated starting in 1994 after meeting on the set of Se7en and got engaged in 1996 before breaking up in 1997. While the exact reason for their split was never made clear, Paltrow reportedly had concerns about their relationship and even developed feelings for Hugh Grant while filming Emma.

She also famously talked about their different upbringings, saying she had to teach him about types of caviar. It was also reported that Pitt threatened to kill Weinstein for Gwyneth over things that went too far for a role.

Pitt married Aniston in Malibu on July 29, 2000, and they stayed together for five years before he began a relationship with Angelina Jolie while filming “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Paltrow later married Coldplay singer Chris Martin in 2003, and they had two children before their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014. She is now married to producer Brad Falchuck.
