Former Bravo reality star arrested for sock-filled-with-rocks attack at Tennessee Walmart

Diamond Tankard, who once appeared on the Bravo reality series Thicker Than Water, was arrested on Friday, July 18, after allegedly assaulting a woman at a Walmart.

The incident reportedly involved Tankard using a sock filled with rocks — some reports say paving stones — leaving fans of the once-popular show astonished and prompting questions about her current state of mind and motives.

Tankard did not know the woman she attacked

According to police reports from the Metro Nashville Police Department, viewed by local news outlets, officers responded to a Walmart in Antioch, Tennessee, that Friday afternoon following calls about an assault in the store’s parking lot. Witnesses reported that Tankard, 21, approached a woman she appeared to have no prior connection, then allegedly produced a sock reportedly stuffed with rocks and struck the woman multiple times. Bystanders intervened to restrain Tankard.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, sustained minor head injuries and received treatment at the scene. Police confirmed she had no prior relationship with Tankard, and there’s no evidence of an existing dispute. Tankard was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Rutherford County Jail.

Tankard now faces charges of aggravated assault with a weapon. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she was released the same day after posting bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 22. The motive for the attack remains unclear, though police have indicated that mental health may be a factor under consideration.

Tankard’s reality TV past and recent legal problems

Tankard was a cast member of Bravo’s Thicker Than Water, which aired from 2013 to 2016. The show chronicled the affluent lifestyle and spiritual convictions of the Tankard family, led by patriarch Ben Tankard, a former NBA player who transitioned into a gospel jazz musician. The series was known for blending religious themes with reality-TV drama, and Diamond, the eldest daughter, was a prominent figure throughout its run.

While Diamond was portrayed on the show as an ambitious and outspoken individual, she has largely remained out of the spotlight in recent years. Her social media presence has been minimal, and she hasn’t been involved in other significant television projects since Thicker Than Water concluded.

This recent arrest has generated considerable online discussion, particularly among longtime Bravo viewers who recall the Tankard family’s wholesome image. When the Walmart attack happened, Tankard was already out on bond for a previous charge of attempted first-degree murder from November 2024, stemming from an incident where she allegedly used her Range Rover to ram a woman. She was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the Walmart incident.

Bravo has not released a statement regarding the assault, and representatives for the Tankard family have not commented. Diamond’s father, Ben Tankard, continues his work as a motivational speaker and musician, but it’s unclear what contact, if any, he currently maintains with his daughter.
