‘Life is Short!’: Ozzy and Hogan’s deaths led to Michael Jordan’s son’s surprising confession

Death often makes you think about what is important.

Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, shared a surprising confession on Instagram this week. He explained that the recent deaths of rock star Ozzy Osbourne and WWE superstar Hulk Hogan made him realize he needed to reconnect with his family after what seemed like a period of distance.

As found by TMZ, his since-expired Instagram story revealed details about his relationships with his father, Michael Jordan, his mother, Juanita Vanoy, and his siblings Jeffrey, Jasmine, Victoria, and Ysabel, which had not been widely known before. Although Marcus Jordan has been seen in public with his father in the past, including at the Super Bowl in February 2024, his Instagram post hinted at a disconnect that led him to reach out to his family.

The fact that he specifically mentioned contacting his parents and siblings adds to the idea of an ongoing feud, which now appears to have been addressed following the deaths of the two famous entertainers. Earlier this year, in February, he was arrested and faced charges for possession of ketamine, driving under the influence with property damage, and resisting arrest. These legal issues brought his personal struggles into the public eye and added to the challenges of his already complicated public image.

Marcus Jordan may have reconciled with his father, Mike

After his arrest, his legal team confirmed that Marcus Jordan had been dealing with alcohol and substance use problems. As part of his legal process, the court ordered him to join a Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program. This program is meant to help people facing similar struggles by giving them the tools and support they need to stay sober.

In his recent Instagram post, Marcus Jordan talked about how the deaths of Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan affected him emotionally. He admitted that the grief he felt almost made him break his sobriety and start drinking again. However, he stressed that he resisted the urge and has now stayed sober for 107 days. This detail gave more insight into the ongoing challenges he is facing and his determination to overcome them.

The story read, “Went THRU IT yesterday, realizing that 2 icons of my childhood passed this week. Reached out to both my parents & my siblings, cuz life is short and it’s important to spend time with the people you love… Caught a SERIOUS case of the “fck it’s” & almost had a drink… It was disheartening realizing how the “fun” has been stripped from social media… It used to be ‘OK’ to be weird and have opinions on social media, to learn from mistakes publicly. Now it’s been so normalized to ‘fit’ a certain mold or into society?? And people wonder why MFs keep their thoughts to themselves these days… It shouldn’t have to be that

way. And luckily for me, I have plenty of friends and family who raised me right & love me But my heart breaks for the people that aren’t as fortunate 107 Days Sober & Counting UP!”

Marcus Jordan seems to be picking himself up, and that means being with family again. It’s a good outcome to the deaths of two legends.
