Jimmy Kimmel may be the next celebrity to flee the US thanks to Trump

Kimmel is ready to leave.

Jimmy Kimmel, the well-known late-night talk show host, might be thinking about moving away from the United States for good.

His comments suggest he could become the next famous person to leave the country because of the current political leadership. In a recent interview, Kimmel shared that he now has Italian citizenship, giving him another place to live if he chooses to leave the U.S. He said, “I did get Italian citizenship, I do have that. What’s going on is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It’s so much worse, it’s just unbelievable.” He also talked about how he understands people who once supported the president but have since changed their minds, saying that admitting you were wrong is hard but important.

He said, “If you wanna change your mind, that’s so hard to do. If you want to admit you were wrong, that’s hard and so rare to do, you are welcome.” Kimmel’s frustration with the administration is no secret, and he has openly opposed it.

Not long ago, he joined an anti-Trump protest with his family, making his position very clear. The idea of Kimmel leaving the U.S. comes after the president’s own comments about him. During an interview in the Oval Office, President Trump hinted that Kimmel, along with other late-night hosts like Jimmy Fallon, would soon lose their jobs. When asked about Howard Stern, Trump suggested Stern faced consequences for his controversial remarks and claimed Kimmel and Fallon were next, saying they had no talent.

These remarks from the president might add to the pressure Kimmel feels, connecting his political criticism to the possible future of his late-night show. Kimmel wouldn’t be the first celebrity to move away after the president’s re-election. Other famous people have already done the same. Last year, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to the Cotswolds region. More recently, in March of this year, Rosie O’Donnell said she and her child had relocated to Ireland.

She explained that the political situation had been personally devastating for her. Months later, Trump responded to O’Donnell’s move by threatening to take away her American citizenship and calling her a “threat to humanity.” These actions by other celebrities set an example that Kimmel might follow.
