‘She’s not at all sorry’: Grinning Kentucky woman allegedly glitter-bombs ex’s car and poured salt in his engine

A Kentucky woman’s grinning mugshot has gone viral after she was arrested for causing thousands of dollars of damage to her ex-boyfriend’s car in a bizarre and destructive act of revenge.

According to reports, on August 14, 2025, police arrested Stephanie Carlquist, 31, from Richmond, Kentucky, after a July incident, when Carlquist allegedly poured salt into the engine of her ex-boyfriend’s car, stuffed glitter into the air conditioning vents, slashed a tire, cracked the windshield and rearview mirror, and shattered the car’s radio screen.

The damage was extensive enough for the vehicle to be declared totaled, with an estimated total cost of $13,000.

Carlquist says she’s sorry

Carlquist reportedly confessed, first telling the tow truck driver who arrived to remove the damaged vehicle and then contacting her ex-boyfriend’s mother. She later reached out to her ex via Instagram, apologizing and explaining that stress from her pregnancy had contributed to her behavior.

Her criminal complaint, however, indicates she admitted to putting glitter in the vents and cracking the windshield but denied other damage.

On August 14, Richmond police arrested Carlquist and charged her with felony criminal mischief. She was booked into the Madison County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond.

Her mugshot, which shows her smiling broadly despite the severity of the charges, has become a viral sensation on social media.

Public reaction to the case has been varied. Some have expressed sympathy for Carlquist, noting the pressures associated with pregnancy, while others have criticized her actions as extreme and destructive.

“That is not something I do when I feel stressed out. I take a walk in nature. That is a much healthier way to relieve stress,” one social media comment said. “She’s not at all sorry!” another added. But one other comment said, “I’m sure she meant it, and it won’t happen again.”

Kentucky authorities booked Carlquist at the Madison County Detention Center. She has since been released on that bail, pending an upcoming arraignment.
