‘He brought in an evil spirit’: Woman records home decor before and after being with toxic man and the difference is night and day

The netizens of TikTok are less than impressed with this guys decorating skills, (or lack thereof).

Living with a partner can oftentimes require a little bit of compromise. The fact is couples won’t always agree on everything, that’s just a normal part of life. While interior decoration may seem like a relatively insignificant thing to have a disagreement over, like everything, a couple should work together to find a balance that works for both of them.

One woman by the name of “piamaria222” on TikTok shared a glimpse of what it can look like when two people in a relationship can’t come to a happy compromise when it comes to home decor. Sharing a video of her front room before her (now ex) boyfriend moved in, compared to a video after he had left.

The difference between the two clips is both shocking and depressing as the room, which had once emanated warmth with cute plush mushrooms and a bright color palette, had been swapped out for a husk of a room. Gone are the cushions, gone is the cute rug. The room feels dark and void of life as every bit of personality has been stripped from it.

He didn’t steal my things, over time he would complain about my decor, tell me how ugly it was. He hated everything and convinced me (slowly) to get rid of all my decor to make it more of a home for the both of us. Leaving me with this #toxic #crazy #pyscho #stupid

It reminds me of those videos of millennials “renovating” old Victorian houses by coating everything in white or grey paint. Either way, it’s a sad sight to see, whoever this guy is, he clearly toxic and probably isn’t very fun at parties, or in general.

TikTok puts this toxic man on blast

Piamaria explained that her ex-boyfriend would frequently complain about her decor, telling her that it was “ugly” and that he “hated everything.” Over time he slowly but surely convinced her to get rid of her decorations bit by bit. By the time they broke up we can see that there is nothing left of her original flair left in the room.

Naturally, the people of TikTok were horrified by how this man had destroyed this woman’s cute decor. “Why do they pick us if they hate us?” asked one viewer, “what did he have against the rug?” added a second. Meanwhile a third wrote, “dopamine decor is toxic to people who are hateful. that shoulda been your hint.”

In a way the choices we make in decorating our living spaces are a reflection of ourselves, so while it may not seem that deep, choosing to change one’s home decor is kind of a repression of one’s personality. Piamaria essentially had to cut out a way of expressing herself because a man told her he didn’t like it. Thankfully it seems he no longer lives there so hopefully she can rebuild her home the way she likes it.
