Kirill Dmitriev, a Putin ally, posted on social media that there had been “an attack on Charlie Kirk, one of the most ardent conservative leaders known for his positive statements about Russia.”

Chinese political analysts also weighed in on the incident, with some pointing to it as evidence of America’s systemic problems. Yi Shen, a professor at Fudan University’s Research Center for the Governance of Global Cyberspace, warned that political polarization in the United States was likely to deepen following Kirk’s death. He noted that while both political sides would condemn the violence, each would blame different causes, creating a cycle that “poses enormous risks to society and the nation as a whole.”
