Donald Trump says ‘I do,’ gives NATO the go-ahead to start shooting down Russian jets

In a huge development that came out of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City, President Donald Trump has called on NATO countries to shoot down any Russian aircraft that violate their airspace. This statement, which is sure to get a lot of people talking, was made during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was also in town for the U.N. gathering.

Fox claims that when a reporter directly asked Trump, “Do you think that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace?” he gave a very clear, two-word answer: “Yes, I do.” This is a pretty significant shift, as he’s been known to be a bit more noncommittal on this topic in the past.

Trump really thinks other nations look at the US highly lately

Russia has recently been invading the airspace of other countries. The country claims these are accidents, but at this point, no one is convinced. It seems like Russia is testing the nations. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing Trump said about the issue; instead, he wanted to make up new issues that don’t hurt the U.S. at all.

Trump said, “Not only is the U.N. not solving the problems it should. It, too often, is actually creating new problems for us to solve.” He went even further, directly accusing the U.N. of being a part of the problem. According to him, the organization is “funding an assault on Western countries and their borders.” He even mentioned that “The U.N. also provided food, shelter, transportation and debit cards to illegal aliens.”

He essentially said that the U.N. is doing the exact opposite of what it was created for, stating, “The UN is supposed to stop invasions — not create them and not finance them.” It’s a bold accusation that’s bound to ruffle some feathers in the international community.

But the criticism wasn’t just aimed at the U.N. Trump also had some very direct words for European leaders and their approach to immigration. He said that illegal immigrants are “pouring into Europe” and that because these countries are choosing to be “politically correct,” they are “doing absolutely nothing about it.”

He then added that “Your countries are going to hell.” It feels like he’s trying to hold other countries accountable by using America as a sort of model for a solution. He touted his administration’s policies, saying that once they started “detaining and deporting everyone who crossed the border and removing illegal aliens from the United States, they simply stop coming.” He even gave a shout-out to El Salvador, thanking them for “receiving and jailing criminals” who had entered the U.S. It’s a very specific and pointed message, and it’s clear he wants other countries to follow suit.
