‘That’s not a statue’: Friends staying in an Airbnb slide phone under door of locked closet to find a frightening figure hiding inside

If horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that a locked door in an Airbnb is never good news. While we can reason with our own thoughts and conclude that there is nothing to fear, there are always those creeping suspicions that tell us anyone or anything could be lurking behind that locked door.

Secret rooms and locked doors are a surprisingly common occurrence in Airbnbs. When you think about it, it’s not too crazy for a property owner to have some parts they don’t want guests going into but as a guest it can be a somewhat disturbing discovery. 

A couple of friends staying in an Airbnb found out exactly what was hiding behind the door in the place they were staying and they’ve shared the horror with the rest of TikTok. Laura and her friend figured out they could get a glimpse of whatever was behind the mysterious door in their Airbnb if they simply slid their phone camera underneath the gap at the bottom.

But after doing so they were likely wishing they hadn’t as what was waiting on the other side would no doubt make it hard to sleep. 

What looks like a mannequin or some sort of statue can be seen standing facing the door. It’s wearing a dark coat and although it’s hard to see the face, it almost looks like it’s smiling. Hopefully this was their last day staying at the place because if not I’d be sleeping outside just to be safe.

Time to get out of that Airbnb

The creepy statue could be just that, a statue, but it’s probably quite hard to convince yourself of that when you’re just on the other side of the door from it. What we can see of the face looks pretty detailed and very realistic. Could it be a person standing deathly still? Listening and waiting while the girls laugh and giggle outside?

Viewers on TikTok certainly think so. “GIRL IT LOCKS FROM THE INSIDE- THATS NOT A STATUE,” wrote one frantic person, “you have to go peep again just in case he moved,” added another, while a third asked “is that statue breathing?” These two friends are living a real life creepypasta. Others questioned why the light was on in the small space in the first place.

After seeing that some viewers wanted proof that everything was alright and that the two women made it out safe. But concerningly, there haven’t been any updates on the situation since the video was four days ago. However, we can breathe a sigh of relief as Laura did respond to a comment asking if she was alive, to which she responded “Yes queen we are fine!!” Of course, that’s assuming it really is Laura responding and not the creepy statue man using her phone…
