‘I’m nobody to them’: Peloton fitness star left ‘bawling’ after NYC fashion showroom shames her size

What's she supposed to do, make her bones thinner?

Peloton instructor Camila Ramon is going viral after sharing a tearful story about feeling dismissed and belittled at a New York City fashion showroom, and honestly, it’s just awful to hear. She recounted the entire devastating experience in a TikTok post, revealing that she left the appointment feeling completely “humiliated” and ended up “bawling” afterward.

Ramon didn’t name the brand in the video, but the raw honesty of her story has already struck a chord with her followers and could spark a much-needed conversation about how exclusionary fashion spaces can be, especially for women who don’t fit the industry’s beauty standards. Ramon explained that she went into the appointment genuinely excited because she had admired the brand for a long time.

Right away, though, something felt seriously off. The contact she was supposed to meet wasn’t there, and another employee simply told her to sit on the couch and wait. When her assigned person finally showed up, Ramon said he avoided eye contact and acted “very dismissive.” It sounds like a truly uncomfortable experience; as she put it, “It’s like they didn’t want to interact with me.”

Fashion brands will even say fitness stars aren’t thin enough

To be fair, this kind of environment is already stressful, especially for anyone who doesn’t rock the industry’s usual “sample size.” Ramon admitted to feeling anxious going into these environments as “an athletic-built woman,” knowing full well that most of the clothing wouldn’t fit her. That fear was immediately confirmed when the man helping her reportedly told her the brand’s sizes mostly ran in a 2 or 4.

Ramon perfectly summed up the mental toll that takes, saying, “It’s very mentally f***ed because I know I’m not going to fit into most of those things.” He eventually pointed her toward two lonely racks of clothes to try, but Ramon says his total disinterest never lifted. Every time she asked for help or sizing advice, she recalled that he brushed her off, making her feel absolutely invisible. This may seem like the perfect time for a Pretty Woman moment, but it’d just be uncomfortable in the end.

This whole situation ultimately drove her to tears in the bathroom when, predictably, nothing fit. She later summarized the gut-wrenching feeling of being ignored in a direct quote that hits hard: “I’m nobody to them.” She even called her stylist for support, who urged her to ask the staff for help again, but Ramon knew it was useless. “These people don’t want to help me,” she remembered saying. “They don’t want to interact with me.”

By the end of the appointment, she was done tolerating that kind of treatment. Ramon explained that as she continues to potentially have more events, “I don’t want to interact with people like that,” and asked her followers to recommend “kind” and “size-inclusive brands.” I mean, it’s hard to blame her when she’s the star of a fitness program that had to respond to someone having a heart attack; she can’t get any more fit.

While she tried to tell herself, “This person’s energy has nothing to do with me,” she openly admitted that the experience still got completely under her skin. Her final message to viewers was simple and powerful: “Do not let anybody make you feel like less than.”
