‘They aren’t even hiding the racism anymore’: Republican congressional candidate vows to ‘kick every dirty Muslim’ out of Texas

I'm sure Texas ultra-MAGAs will rush to vote for a non-Texan Colombian immigrant...

Donald Trump has completely redefined what “normal” is in American politics. A decade ago, even the most virulently racist politician couldn’t be overt and open about their beliefs, and being exposed as saying outright Nazi stuff would end a career.

Those days are long gone, but an unfortunate consequence is that normalizing racism means that when Republicans need to distinguish themselves from their rivals, they resort to language that’d have Goebbels muttering “Uh, I think this might be going a teeny-weeny bit too far…”

So, let’s meet the person who’s scraping the very bottom of the Republican barrel. Enter Valentina Gomez, currently running for Congress in Texas. So, what does this shining example of conservative thinking have to say for herself?

“Vote for me so we can kick every dirty Muslim out of Texas. Save your daughters from getting raped by Muhammad and protect our soldiers from getting murdered in broad daylight. Let me be very clear, we will make Texas the worst place for groomers, terrorists, Muslims, pedophiles, and illegals to live in, so help me God.”

Gomez goes on to criticize “weak Republicans” for allowing Muslims into Texas, and claims that New York City, Michigan, and Minnesota “fell to Islam”. So why is she so mad about Muslims? Well, a peek at her biography gives us a clue why she’s spouting this hateful garbage.

Not an ideal background for a MAGA die-hard…

Gomez, somewhat unfortunately for a Republican taking an incredibly tough line against immigration, was born in Colombia and her family emigrated to the United States in 2009. It’s worth underlining that her family legally migrated, but we suspect that distinction may be lost on the extraordinarily hateful crowd whose vote she’s trying to secure.

Not only that, but Gomez doesn’t even claim to be a Texan, which feels like something of a hindrance when trying to win the hearts and minds of proud Texans.

Her campaign page underlines her ultra MAGA opinions, with Gomez claiming to be “the most Pro-Gun candidate in history”, promising a “bullet” for all murderers, and, bizarrely, that she’ll become “the best stock trader in history and post trades on X.”

But hey, who knows, maybe Texas Republicans who hate immigrants and Latinos with every molecule of their being will decide she’s actually “one of the good ones”. Yeah, and pigs might fly…
