600 Texan truckers are going to have a miserable Christmas, and they have just one man to blame for it. Donald Trump‘s chaotic, damaging, and outrageously costly tariffs, combined with the generally cratering U.S. economy, have put the squeeze on anyone involved in international shipping in any capacity.
Now, according to a bankruptcy filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, the trucking company Texas International Enterprises is going out of business, laying off 600 truckers in the process.

The company is headquartered in Laredo, Texas, meaning much of its focus is on cross-border goods being shipped between the U.S. and Mexico. Trump’s exorbitant tariffs have made this unprofitable, citing plummeting rates, rapidly rising costs, and weak demand.
YouTuber The Enemy From Within – aka Josh – spelled out the bad news for the trucking industry. He explained that: “Laredo, Texas is an excellent economic indicator of what’s going on in shipping. And the reason is because it’s international trade.”
Bloodbath incoming for truckers
He went on to say that this downturn in trucking is a bad omen for the rest of the economy and hinted that a “bloodbath” is on the way for the rest of the industry:
“We should be absolutely terrified by the signs we’re seeing in trucking as it relates to the United States economy. … Right now, the big thing that is going on that people need to be aware of economically is that the trucking industry is absolutely collapsing because of Donald Trump’s tariffs,”
Josh acknowledged that many truckers – perhaps especially in Texas – are as MAGA as they come. But, in the end, that won’t matter:
“Right now, while you’re bowing down to Donald Trump and saying he’s doing great things for you, he is getting you fired.”
Perhaps that last comment might give some MAGA-happy truckers pause for thought as they explain to their husbands, wives, and children that Christmas isn’t going to be quite as merry as they thought it’d be this year. Sure, there are some savings put away, but with Trump in the White House, the situation for the trucking industry is only going to get worse.
Many truckers will have to give up a life they love and face the fact that it might finally be time to give up the rig and the open road and fill out that Walmart application form.
