Woman falls asleep on flight, wakes up to find her neighbor’s brutal voice text blaming her for the ‘worst flight ever’

It was an awkward experience for sure.

A woman fell asleep during a Spirit Airlines flight and woke up to an awkward surprise. Her seatmate was recording a voice message, calling it the “worst flight ever” because the sleeping passenger had been leaning on her shoulder the whole time.

According to Bro Bible, the woman, who goes by Marathonprep on TikTok, shared the embarrassing moment in a video. She was traveling with her boyfriend when the incident happened. The video quickly went viral, getting around 1.5 million views.

On-screen texts in the video explained what happened. It said the woman next to her sent a voice text to a friend right after the flight, saying it was the worst flight ever. Meanwhile, her boyfriend told her she had been sleeping on the stranger’s shoulder during the entire trip.

The seatmate made sure she heard every word

What makes this story even more awkward is that the seatmate said her complaint out loud, clearly wanting Marathonprep to hear it. One TikTok user commented that the woman wanted her to know exactly how uncomfortable she was. Marathonprep agreed with this observation.

Her boyfriend didn’t wake her up during the flight, but he did take a live photo of the situation. When people asked why he didn’t move her, Marathonprep said she was still wondering the same thing. She later explained that she hates flying, and her boyfriend probably just wanted her to rest.

Not everyone blamed Marathonprep for what happened. Some users pointed out that airplane seats are now so small that passengers almost always end up touching each other. One frequent flyer said they never judge people on planes because the cramped space makes these situations unavoidable. Spirit Airlines has faced other controversial passenger incidents recently, showing how budget travel can create tense moments.

Many users recounted experiences of falling asleep on strangers’ shoulders while flying. “last time i went to california i somehow slept on EVERYONE’S shoulder and got the middle seat EVERY. TIME. tbf i am clearly very harmless but still why did anyone let me do that,” one person wrote.

Marathonprep later posted photos from the flight. The pictures show her completely asleep in the middle seat, leaning toward her seatmate. In one photo, her mouth is open, and the woman next to her looks very unhappy. While this incident was just embarrassing, the airline has dealt with more serious flight disruptions lately.

It’s best to handle these situations quickly. If someone falls asleep on you, a gentle tap on their arm usually works. You can also push their head back gently and say something polite like “It seems you started to fall over.” If you’re the one who fell asleep on a stranger, just apologize and laugh it off. These awkward travel moments happen to many people.
