‘Melania’ premiere red carpet turns farce after hot mic moment reveals parade of no-shows

Not even Trump's closest allies can sit through it.

Melania hasn’t gone to plan. The idea was for a polished documentary to gild the First Lady’s reputation, and if it happens to curry favor with the president, all the better! Perhaps it would have all gone smoothly if the producers had quietly slipped it onto some streaming service and lied about its popularity.

But no, they had to go with a full international theatrical release, a multimillion-dollar marketing campaign, and what was supposed to be a star-studded (by MAGA standards anyway) premiere at the newly rechristened “Trump-Kennedy Center”.

But, in an excruciating hot mic moment, it seems that even the most ardent Trump bootlickers couldn’t be bothered to sit through 104 minutes of Melania:

“Who didn’t show on the red carpet? Kari Lake.. she didn’t show. Bret Baier, Kellyanne Conway, Riley Gaines, Kash Patel – didn’t show. Noem didn’t show. Bondi didn’t show. Duffy didn’t show. Navarro.. didn’t show.”

Did they all have better things to do?

All of these names were on the guest list provided to the journalists speaking in the clip, but it appears they had better things to do. It’s theoretically possible that all of the above simply avoided the red (in this instance, black) carpet and snuck in the back door.

But I’ve done some digging on social media. For instance, take Kash Patel. It’s inconceivable that this social media-obsessed clown wouldn’t at least note his attendance at a swanky black-tie event on his socials, but there are no images of him or reference to him attending on any of his profiles.

For once, we can sympathize with this parade of ghouls. The only person who genuinely wants to see Melania is… Melania. Why wouldn’t you skip this self-serving garbage if you could? The documentary’s mystifying wide release in the UK will play to literally empty rooms, and reports indicate someone is willing to pay attendees $50 to sit through the movie in what appears to be a way to stop this from being the biggest box office bomb of the year.

The funny thing is, there probably is an interesting and important documentary to be made about how an Eastern European immigrant ended up the First Lady of a president doing everything in his power to destroy immigrants. But, suffice to say, Melania is not that movie.
