Indiana woman is furious after Taco Bell refused her order during a tornado. And people have questions: ‘Can somebody go ask her why’

“Is Taco Bell tornado proof?”

A TikToker named Daadi, who shares content under the handle daadisnacks, recently ignited a conversation online after reacting to a TikTok video from an Indiana woman who was upset that her local Taco Bell shut down operations during a tornado watch. The original video features her complaining, “I just went to Taco Bell, and they were like, ‘We have a tornado watch right now, so for the safety of our employees, we’re gonna stop taking orders.’ You’re Taco Bell. But okay.”

In his video, which has over 6 million views, Daadi did not hold back in his response, pointing out the absurdity of expecting fast-food workers to prioritize a taco order over their own lives. He said, “Oh, my. A natural disaster is barreling towards me, but the real disaster is that I can’t get a Crunchwrap Supreme. And what do you mean by but “You’re Taco Bell?” Like, do you think they have superheroes working back there?”

To drive the point home, he included an illustration of a man in a superhero suit sitting outdoors in a storm, with text overlaying the screen that read, “who she thinks is making her chalupa.”It seems the original poster was not prepared for the backlash, as Daadi noted, “Anyways, Michaela here preemptively blocked me once people started tagging me in this. So can somebody go ask her why she’s craving burritos instead of taking shelter?”

The TikTok comment section was stuck in disbelief

Users are baffled by the entitlement on display. Rubber Toe commented, “You’re Taco Bell”….. WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN!?!?, while Chelsea added, “You’re Taco Bell..” …as though Taco Bell is the one and only Tornado proof business in the world that only employs Tornado proof staff.

Other users chimed in with similar confusion. Shayne7x wrote, “Like the tornado’s gonna go “oop, that’s a Taco Bell.” And turn the other way?!” CandyGirl Piñata asked, “Is Taco Bell tornado proof?”

It is important to remember that tornadoes are severe, life-threatening weather events. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), businesses are expected to have rigorous safety plans in place to protect their staff and customers. This process involves identifying safe shelter locations, such as basements or small interior rooms on the lowest floor, and staying away from windows and outside walls.

OSHA emphasizes that preparedness involves a continuous process of planning, equipping, training, and exercising. Employers are encouraged to establish clear procedures to account for everyone in the building during a warning, which is an imminent threat where a tornado has been sighted or indicated by radar.

Many people in the comments of Daadi’s video pointed out just how dehumanizing the woman’s behavior is for retail and service workers. Erika the Pink Witch 🇨🇦 wrote, ““You’re Taco Bell” okay. And the employees are making like $7/hr”, and anxiety_noodles added, “retail employee here. people think we’re public property and not important”.

The fallout from her video and Daadi’s reaction seems to have been swift. When many users tried to engage with the original poster, they found themselves blocked or unable to access the account. AL commented, “Ohhhhhh my god, you guys,”… she blocked me immediately!, while Elena (Spencer’s version) said, “just watched her private her account in real time”.

Others wondered if her account or post might have been deleted entirely, with Gentleman Unicorn saying, “Huh! Post deleted. Im SHOCKED.” and ️mj asking, “did she delete her whole acc or am i missing sum”. Gina simply stated, “I think girlypop deleted her account :(”. Many like Daadi questioned why she wasn’t prioritizing safety, as Hope perfectly summarized in the comments, “i love my taco bell but i wouldnt pull up during a tornado warning hello..”

As a severe storm system, tornados are considered such a threat that recently, a meteorologist stayed on air giving updates on active tornado systems even as a fire broke out in the studio. For another Indiana woman who thought she was just filming a beautiful lightning storm, the sound of the siren was enough to spark complete panic for her family.
