Woman tells her partner she is allergic to shellfish. Then he serves her a shrimp-filled dish: ‘Send me to the grave’

A TikTok video from creator Ash Williamson shows her partner eating shrimp at a restaurant while text on screen claims he ordered it despite her alleged shellfish allergy.

The video shows a bearded man seated at a restaurant table, phone pressed to his ear, eating from a shrimp cocktail while she films from across the table. He does not appear to say a word on camera. The video itself offers little context beyond the text on screen, with Williamson later explaining more in a follow-up post.

The on-screen caption reads “When I’m deathly allergic to shellfish. But he orders it anyway,” followed by a second line that pushed the joke further: “I think he craves it more knowing it’ll send me to the grave.”

Videos where creators film a partner’s actions and invite viewers to weigh in have become a familiar part of TikTok culture. Williamson’s clip fits that mold closely, right down to the caption doing most of the storytelling.

Her follow-up gave viewers more context

As of this writing, the clip has drawn thousands of comments, and Williamson appears to have anticipated some of the pushback. In a follow-up post captioned “FAQ,” she offered three clarifications for viewers questioning the situation.”Yes it’s okay,” she wrote, before adding a detail that changed how some viewers interpreted the “deathly” wording: “I dont breathe it in & have reactions.” 

She closed with a line addressing why she isn’t the one eating the shrimp in the video at all: “Eating it would be bad but I’m not.”

Those comments changed how many viewers interpreted the original caption. Rather than showing that her partner’s meal put her in immediate danger, Williamson’s explanation suggests her concern is related to inhalation or direct contact. Nothing in the video or her captions specifies a medical diagnosis, and no allergic reaction is shown.

The comment section quickly split into different camps. Some viewers accepted Williamson’s explanation and defended her frustration. “This isn’t funny. He genuinely doesn’t value you,” one commenter wrote, racking up over 45,000 likes.

Another user drew a direct comparison to her own household. “My husband is allergic to tree nuts so none of us in our house eats them since we love, respect, and value his life. This isn’t cute,” she wrote.

Not everyone agreed with that interpretation, though. A commenter appeared skeptical of the entire framing, writing “Let me guess. You didn’t expect this to blow up and he’s actually a really nice guy,” a reply that gathered over 114,000 likes.

It’s a familiar split for this kind of video. Comment sections on relationship clips like this one tend to divide fast between viewers ready to diagnose a partner’s character from a few seconds of footage and viewers who assume there’s more to the story than a caption can capture.

Williamson has not said whether the man in the video has seen the clip or the reaction it generated. For now, the FAQ remains Williamson’s clearest explanation of the situation and is aimed at addressing the questions raised in the comments.
