Jacob Batalon talks wedding planning while joking about the coincidence of proposal timings between him and his Spider-Man co-stars

It's a race to the weddings!

At a special screening of his new movies The Wrecking Crew, Jacob Batalon spoke about his upcoming wedding. He joked that his Spider-Man co-stars, Tom Holland and Zendaya, copied his style by getting engaged around the same time he did. In an interview with People Magazine, the 29-year-old actor, known for playing Ned Leeds in the Marvel franchise, joked that even though his engagement announcement came later,  “They copied me.”

The whole conversation started when Zendaya subtly confirmed her engagement to Holland last January by sporting a massive diamond at the 2015 Golden Globes. Just two months later, on March 5, 2025, Batalon announced his own engagement to his fiancée, Veronica Leahov. He shared beautiful photos from their romantic New York City proposal on Instagram.

Despite his joking, Batalon did set the record straight on whether the trio coordinated their proposals. “No, we did not know about each other’s plans like that,” Batalon stated in an interview earlier this year.

From proposal to wedding

While Batalon is happy to joke about the timing, he revealed that the actual wedding planning is moving along quickly, mostly because his fiancée has completely taken the reins. “It’s almost done,” he said. “I have not planned anything at all. So my fiancée, she’s really good at it. I genuinely just was like, ‘Tell me when and where and I’ll make it.’ “

While Leahov has been busy with the logistics for a potential Lake Como wedding in Italy, Batalon hasn’t been totally hands-off. He’s focused on the two most important things: the food and the attire. Meanwhile, Batalon is prioritizing a menu that reflects his heritage.” I mean, some adobo for sure,” he confirmed. “And then maybe some like — I kind of want to wear Aloha shirts instead of a tuxedo.”

This open approach to planning stands in sharp contrast to his co-stars. Holland and Zendaya have been notoriously tight-lipped about their impending nuptials, choosing to prioritize privacy.

Their stylist, Law Roach, explained that the couple is dedicated to keeping their relationship and their wedding as private as possible. He noted that there won’t be magazine spreads or official pictures of the event either.

Outside of their weddings, we will see the trio again soon as the production for the 4th title in the Spider-Man franchise is underway.
